FACTS

Most everywhere people seem to find themselves thinking about: what exactly is duct cleaning, what does it do, and why is it important for me and my home?

We’re here to help answer those questions to make the decision-making process a bit simpler next time you’re thinking about ways to boost your home’s air quality.

What is duct cleaning?

Duct cleaning is the extermination of dirt, Particles, and debris inside your home’s air distribution system (the ductwork). Duct cleaning normally involves special tools, vacuums, and a process to free dirt and debris stuck to the interior walls of the ducts before being eliminated with a powerful vacuum system. This varies from your routine air conditioner or furnace maintenance service that focuses primarily on your heating and air conditioning equipment.

What does ducting cleaning do?

Duct cleaning can help your home and indoor air quality in a variety of ways, including:

  • Removing dirt and dust from your home and the air you breathe
  • Eliminating germs and bacteria created by too much dirt

I have heard that mold and bacteria grow inside the evaporator system. Is this true?

Yes. Evaporator systems are a breeding ground for molds, bacteria and foul odors. A microbiologist at Georgia State University investigated the evaporator systems of 32 cars, from economy to luxury class, and every one of them was infested.

Is there anything else that collects in the home evaporator system?

The “evaporator system" of your home air conditioner system is the breeding ground for bacteria, spores, mold, and fungi. It also collects pet hair, bug parts, dirt, nicotine oil, and other debris.

I've heard the term "evaporator system" several times. What is the "evaporator system" and what does it do?

The “evaporator core" is that part of the ventilation system that cools the air before it comes out of the vents. In cooling the air, the “evaporator core" also dehumidifies the air- that is, it takes water out of the air as condensation. That is what makes the puddle of water under your HVAC unit when your air conditioner has been running.

What does the allergens and debris in the "evaporator system" do to the ventilation system of my home?

First, it creates a health risk for people in the home who breathe in the material that comes out of the vents. Next, it plugs up the space between the fins of the “evaporator core". This obstructs the flow of air through the ventilation system and makes your fan or blower assembly work harder than it should push less air through your ventilation system. And these pockets of debris can collect moisture and freeze during the cooling season, expanding the coils in the “evaporator core" to cause leaks of refrigerant and requiring replacement of the “core". Also, when the cooling fins of the “evaporator core" get covered with this collection of dirt and grime, the cooling efficiency of the air conditioner goes way down. You get less air, and it is not as cold as it should be. Your ventilation system has to work a lot harder to do a lot less, and that is not good if you want to keep your ventilation system working for you.

What can The Clean Air People do for me?

The Clean Air People uses the DWD2 system to clean and sanitize the entire “evaporator system" without taking it apart. Using a unique, patented delivery system, upon application, the product foams up to completely fill the “evaporator case" allowing it to:

  • Clean out Fungus
  • Cleans out Nicotine oil
  • Cleans out Bacteria
  • Reduces Allergy Problems
  • Cleans out Spores
  • Restores Cooling Efficiency
  • Increases Air Flow Volume
  • Cleans out bad odors
  • Preserves Blower System

This means that your ventilation system will provide cleaner, healthier air where you want it, whether heating or cooling. Your air conditioner system will operate more efficiently, and that means you will get colder air when you want it.
